An update on the state of affairs in Singapore for the wider Touch Community.

The Singapore Touch Community had a series of meetings with the Federation of International Touch (FIT) Representatives, William (Bill) Ker and Peter Topp last weekend. The intent of these meetings was to formally create a Singapore Touch Governing Body that shall be recognised by FIT and to democratically elect the executive members to run it.

During the meetings, members of the community were invited to share and indicate the traits and values they wished to see in this new body. Members were also involved in reviewing the constitution framework that the new body has to adhere by. At the end, it was determined that there will be 11 Executive Positions on the committee.

It was great to see many hands put up by members of the community to fill these positions, showing much interest and passion to bring the sport forward. The following members below have been elected to form the Executive Committee (EXCO) of the new Singapore Touch body (yet to be named):

President
Jeslyn Lim
Secretary-General
Terence Toh
Treasurer
Chris McNamara
Vice President
Devon Wong
Referee Director
Lynda Scott
National Events Director
Sophie Sorgo
International Events Director
Jason Hoang
Coaching Director
Anne Goh
Elite Coaching Director
Chris Wall
Marketing & Promotions Director
Chris Hallewell
Judiciary Director
Derelyn Chua

Please give them your fullest support as we work towards growing the sport further and the 2019 World Cup.

In the interim while the EXCO firms up the constitution and establishes the new Association, all Touch competitions planned will proceed with no disruption. The TAS League stated to start on Aug 19 will proceed along with the Clifford Chance Tournament, Singapore University Games (SUniG) and Polytechnics & Institutes Games (POL-ITE) and The TAS Pan Pacific All Schools Championships (PPAS) on 18 & 19 November 2017.

Thank you to all members of the Singapore Touch Community who have contributed in one way or another to this fantastic outcome for Singapore Touch.
