2012 Asian Championships

The 9th Asian Touch Championships were conducted in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on weekend 9-10th June.

On Day 1 there were several pool rounds of the international championships and local teams from Malaysia participated in a gala event played on 10 touch fields positioned at the Putrajaya Equestrian Centre, some 30 minutes south of the city.

For many Malaysian school children this was their first exposure to major competition Participation by hundreds of Muslim girls in some very different touch uniforms again shows how this sport has become a fully inclusive activity - truly a sport for all!

The championships was witnessed by several VIP, including the Director General of the Malaysian Sports Council and the Putrajaya Mayor.

Day 2 was played on the main arena consisting of four immaculate fields, culminating with the international finals early Sunday afternoon, followed by the awards presentation ceremony. Results of the finals were as follows:

Open Women: Singapore Pirates 6 def. Monsoon TFC Singapore 5

Open Men: Monsoon TFC Singapore 5 def. Scorpion Touch Putrajaya 0

Open Mixed: Superheroes Singapore 10 def. Monsoon TFC Singapore 4

Masters Men: Tokyo Sky Trees Japan 9 def. Bucks TFC 1
