Italy and France to tap off European Opens Cup
28 Jul 2025 @ 8:00 UTC
As we approach the start of our first tournament of the European Summer - the Atlantic Youth Touch Cup in Limerick this week, we can now unveil the fixture schedule for the third and final event – the European Opens Cup, taking place at Rugby Calvisano from 21st to 24th August.
In a first for the European calendar, action will get underway under lights on the Thursday evening with a single mixed open match between hosts Italia Touch and neighbours Touch France.
The rest of the 22 competing teams will start their action on the Friday morning from 8am, with fixtures starting earlier to accommodate a likely two-hour 'heat break' in the middle of the day.
Eight men's open, eight women's open and six mixed teams will compete in the first event of it's kind - aimed at providing European NTOs with the opportunity to field development teams if they wish following a World Cup year.
With no England in the mixed open, Belgium, Lebanon, the Middle East and Switzerland will join Italy and France to compete for the inaugural title. Instead, England have opted to field 3 mens and 3 Womens teams and will be joined by France, Ireland,,Italy, the Netherlands and Scotland, in both the men's and women's categories.
It promises to be a highly competitive affair and we can't wait to see you in northern Italy.... but not before the fun in Limerick and Stirling starts.
More to follow soon.
