FIT is looking for a Chief Officer who will take an active role in launching Touch into the next phase of its global growth journey.
This exciting and strategic role will report directly to FIT's Chair Mark Croston and will involve regular communication with other members of the Board and its rapidly expanding international membership.
“The CO will develop, lead, and manage the establishment, implementation, and evolution of the 2020s Vision and the long and short-term goals of the sport,” Mark said.
Broad and exciting role
Apart from liaising with the FIT Board and developing the long-term vision for the rapidly expanding sport, the CO will be responsible in conjunction with the various committees for managing and developing the sport from schools to the elite level.
Mark said, "Our CO will also oversee all financial and commercial aspects of the business as it affects players, contracts, sponsorship and staff management. The CO will also collaborate with key stakeholders and have an involvement in the development of the events and commercial portfolio."
Seeking the right candidate
According to Mark Croston, potential candidates should ideally be educated to a degree level, preferably in business management or related discipline and/or be able to demonstrate a track record for growing a commercial organisation in a very competitive business environment.
“Candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve success through managing a diverse workforce and at the same time being able to work within and lead through a Non-Executive Board or Committee environment,” said Mark.
“We are looking for candidates who are excellent communicators and are at ease presenting to external investors, government departments and officials, the press (both radio and TV) and to our Member Nations Committees and Staff.”
“Candidates will also have the gravitas to command respect at the highest levels of sport, business and government while having the people skills to lead and enthuse a sizeable staff to excel in their support roles.
“The right candidate must also be prepared to undertake international travel for stakeholder meetings and major tournaments such as World Cups and other international events.” In August 2022, the European Touch Championships will be held in Nottingham, UK.
Candidates will have a thorough understanding of how to grow earned income, develop a partnership programme/pipeline and be ready to develop the sport’s value exchange globally.
FIT is the governing body for the sport of Touch Football globally. As such, it provides leadership, direction, and regulation and drives the development of the sport on behalf of its members and the wider touch community.
FIT will soon launch a strategic plan, focusing on the structures, systems, programmes, and resources needed to fulfil the sports vision for the next ten years.
Mark added, “Key to the success of the sport going forward will be the appointment of a new CO who can lead the organisation through this challenging and exciting period that will transform the sport’s reach, impact, and relevance to everyone who experiences Touch.”
A flexible remuneration package is on offer reflecting the need to attract the most suitable candidate. Equally, hybrid working, annualised hours and a shorter working week are also available.
